Im Februar 1984 stellte Mitsubishi Motors die zweite europäische Generation des Colt vor. Die Schräghecklimousine war in vier Motorvarianten erhältlich, erstmals auch mit einem Dieselmotor. Den 1,5-l-Ottomotor gab es in einer Schalt- und einer Automatikausführung.
